This body of work is a metaphor for the times that new growth emerges from death, tragedy or struggle. The "log" represents struggle, the woven and wire forms serve as new growth.
I lived 40+ years in the Pacific Northwest. Nurse logs were a common sight when hiking in the woods around Puget Sound.
